“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

I watched Glee last night. Now, usually, all that sticks with me is their song choice and the question: Where do they get all that formal wear for those really lovey-dovey, slow songs and how do they change so fast?

But last night, as they all sat around on the stage, they were asked about their future plans – what they hoped to live to see.

I think that’s a question we all should ask ourselves regularly. What do we hope to see in your lifetime?

When we were in school, we were asked that all the time. Maybe not on a stage, surrounded by perfect-looking and uberly talented classmates, but you get the point. We were constantly reminded to aim for something. Something we wanted. Something we dreamed about.

But as we got older, people stopped asking what we wanted to do with our lives. And in turn, we quit thinking about it. Well, at least I did, any way.

And until the last few years, I was just going with the flow, letting my life happen. Now, that doesn’t mean I didn’t make decisions. I made plenty of them. But I didn’t have a particular goal in mind. I didn’t have that point in the future I was aiming for.

Now I do.

As should you.

You are the only one to know what your dreams are – what you want to accomplish. And you are the only one stopping you from pursuing it.

So now I ask you: What do you hope to see in your future? And what are you going to do to get there?
