Somehow I hurt my ankle.
At first, I thought that I possibly banged it on a shopping cart, but then saw the bruise on the opposite leg, so that was ruled out.
And then I thought maybe I just twisted it and that, given enough time, it would heal on it’s own.
Now, it’s been over a week and my ankle is now swollen and hurts even when I’m still.
But even through the pain, what bothers me the most is that I don’t know how this happened. I don’t have a moment within the last week or so that I can look back at and say,”Aha! That’s why.”
And this isn’t the first time this has happened to me. About a year ago, my thumb swelled up inexplicably. I was in the same position I was in now…hurting with no good reason why. So, I went to the doctor and found out I had chipped my thumb bone (and, yes, that is a technical doctor term).
You would think I would remember something that was hard enough to chip my bone. I mean, when I stub my toe, I remember it for days.
But not that time.
And not this time either.
Who knows what I did? Certainly not me.
